Re: Owner / Trainer

Who asked for your comments you TW_T? What you don't know is that many of the selections that I have not posted have either won or been placed at decent odds. You may also like to know that the owners of horses DO NOT appear on the HorseRaceBase site. FINALLY after your posting - IT IS THE LAST OF ...

Re: Owner / Trainer

You can't change the rules after a week of poor results! Based on your 'new' criteria the 100-1 winner would not have been a selection so you should only be counting results from when you amended the selection process. i am sure you can get historic results for owner/trainers from Horse Race Base, t...

Re: Do owners pay a penalty for withdrawn horses?

'If they backed their own horse at early prices, and just waited to see what happened to the price of their horse, then if the price has shortened they can lay off the bet for a profit. If the price has drifted and they don't want to risk their money after all, all they need to do is withdraw the ho...

Pars for Speed Figures?

I was wondering if you have a list of Par figures for various race types/class? Thinking of my American handicapping books a quick shortcut for establishing which races are bettable is to ignore those where none of the runners have ever achieved an average (or Par) time for the race in question.

Thanks LW, and sorry for lateness in replying. I knew you were only being supportive and didn't feel you were putting any pressure on me to post, I always welcome your input. About whether to keep going or take a break through losing runs, it would make for a good discussion, I know many people who...

Re: Place Odds Formula

Yes martin i do understand these things but i'm a little bit waxed...i've read that the place odds are calculated using: 1.(win odds-1)/fraction of the odds +1 i.e (17-1)/5 +1 equals with 4.2 2.divide the win odds by fraction i.e 17/5 equals with 3.4 Something is wrong in here don't you think? The ...

Re: Alan Berry

Maybe he has a lot fewer horses in the yard due to his abysmal strike rate in previous years? Trainer patterns can be a goldmine - until they stop working for no apparent reason! I used to have a cast iron system based on Saeed Bin Suroor + first time in a handicap which averaged 30 points profit wi...

Re: Dutch

Theoretically I suppose the idea could work, but the problem is you are assuming that the prices are close to the 'true' odds for each horse. If your 5/2 favourite should actually be 7/2 the whole thing blows up. I would use Betfair SP as the odds are usually around 10 percent better than SP to give...

Re: The way I use Patternform

In the 4.00 at Sandown Invicta Lake @ 16/1 looks a tasty e.w. price. The horse has already won a big race at Sandown so this steep hill should present no problems for the horse in the closing stages. On the filter money won Invicta Lake easily comes out best of the horses in the field. The reason f...
