Any stats on fallers?

Postby shakeshuck » Thu Jan 28, 2016 1:16 pm

I can't remember if I previously asked this or not... old age is catching up :o

I frequently spend my time looking for angles, or trying to squeeze a few extra percent out of returns, and this query came to me this morning. More than one of the bookies out there (I won't mention any names in case they search these forums) has a money back offer if your horse falls, or unseats the rider, etc.
This is not meant as a strategy in its own right, but I thought that when placing regular bets, it may pay to choose which horse gets backed with these bookies.

So the big question is... does anyone have any stats on fallers etc. to see if there is any benefit to be had by backing certain types of horses with these bookies? I guess the outsiders are more likely to fall (if you're like me that would mean lower stakes), but there are of course times when the top two horses are fighting it out and pushing hard and one just tries too hard...?

It would be nice to have a clue which way to swing it.
