Queston for Pace Analysis

Postby scottrose1988 » Sat Jan 14, 2017 7:39 pm

Dear Sirs

Firstly what a fantastic site, I have been using for sometime but never been on the forum.

Reason for my topic. How exactly are you calculating your pace figures, generally I use Pace 3 as I think from a visual prospect its fantastic.

However, Is it possible to get a full explanation on how you calculate the main pace rating for each runner. In the description it says about calculating at a third of the way down been looking at this for a few days and I am still scratching me head. I have no idea how your getting the number.

Thank you for your time and your generosity. Very much appreciated. :D

It's not Sirs - there's just the one of me!

Lets do an example from Sunday -
http://www.patternform.co.uk/cards/2017/jan/fairyhouse%20(ire)_2017-01-15_200_pace_v3.php

fairyhouse - 2.00 -

Another Challenge
1 2 2 8 3 1 3 8 9 2 9
Order the ratings descending
1 1 2 2 2 3 3 8 8 9 9
11 ratings - Third down the list is the 3rd rating which is a "2" - this is the race pace rating for this runner

I hope this helps

Thanks for your response.

If thats the case for this race today at Kelso http://www.patternform.co.uk/cards/2017 ... ace_v3.php

NOTONEBUTTWO pace reads (2) 1 1 4 4 2 6 1 3 3 3 3

Now in descending order 1 1 1 2 3 3 3 3 4 4 6

A third of the way for this runner is 1. But it has a pace rating of 2.

On your example above its the same as 11 previous pace figures on the third.

I appreciate your response.

There are actually 11 runs in that example - 11/3 = 3.666 - rounded up to 4 - hence the 4th rating in the list is "2"
I my example it also should have been the 4th (sorry about that) which happened to be the same code as the 3rd one!

Great site :-) Can I ask a question....forgive me if this is me being daft, but what do the 3 little 9s mean for some of the runs? I apologize if this is written somewhere and I have missed it.

On the Patternform card, click on the "PaceV3" link on the top right of the page

Hi Martin
I am trying to understand pace V3, if 1 =Leader and 9 = lagger what runstyle would you assign to the other numbers.
Many thanks for a great site.
