Going

Postby martinkil » Sat Mar 07, 2020 4:11 pm

Turftrax have it SOFT with GS in places -https://maps.turftrax.co.uk/latestgoingreport.asp?course=Cheltenham
Outlook - Rain overnight Sat/Sun, up to 5mm and a spell of rain Monday afternoon, up to 4mm Tuesday is mostly dry. Temp 12C

If we have the 9mm over 3 days then it could well dry out further to GS all over (maybe with soft in places), ideal for everyone except the real mudlarks, and the hoof rattlers.

Just noticed I put- good with GS in places - should have been - soft with GS in places - sorry about that Philp

Still soft all over (heavy bits in the cross country) as of 8.15 am Sunday (GoingStick Old: 5.6 CC: 4.5 New: 6.0 on 08-03-2020 at 08:00 Sunday).
Fast moving showers during the day Sunday and we'll see how much of it hit the course. Rain due Monday afternoon so may well stay soft, but the drying wind is the unknown factor.

Monday's Turftrax has updated with no change to the going and with rain forecast it looks like it will be soft going after all.

By some accounts on Twitter the going was soft, heavy in places on Tuesday morning. Said to be tacky/sticky by this afternoon. No rain forecast tonight https://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/ ... _hour.html
Ground likely to still be sticky tomorrow, especially as the day goes on and parts of the ground gets used up, imho.

i think the ground is likely to still be gluey tomorrow. It won't dry that much given the current forecast. I don't know if that's much help though :|

Rain radar shows a couple of sharp showers this mornings which should have loosened the going a bit. There should be a turftrax update before noon.
