Champion Hurdle (Rating review)
It looks a sub-standard race this year. The top 3 official rating for each of the last 8 years is given along with this years:
2020 - 163, 160, 159
2019 - 172, 166, 165
2018 - 169, 167, 164
2017 - 164, 165, 163
2016 - 163, 162, 161
2015 - 169, 169, 169
2014 - 173, 167, 167
2013 - 172, 170, 167
2012 - 173, 170, 166
The last really poor year was 2016 when the mare Annie Power won at 5-2 off a rating of 162 (163 was top).
On the other really poor year 2017 there were no mares contesting the race
This year one mare - Epatante - is favourite at 7-2 in places, mainly 3-1 and joint third rated off 159.
