Re: Today's Racing Pointers
So, Lord Cooper won the 16.00 race but of course I didn't have any money on. Probably the most frustrating thing I find about racing is getting on the right time. Bet on Potter's Story the previous day.... Suppose it is just persistence.

I forgot about that race until I just read your post haha
When I first come on here I started off putting up a few winners then it quickly dried up but now they are flying again and i'm not doing anything different. Most people suffer when they lose is because they haven't got a betting strategy in place and stake wrong. I tend to use 5% of my betting bank based on whatever that may be on race day and this seems to work for me. It's best to record everything so you can see what your strike rate is in certain races and of course use a profit/loss so you know what price you can take.
Punters are always saying you need to beat the bookies by getting the best value for example betting on a 6/1 shot that you think should be 4/1. Most of these punters don't even know how to form a market for themselves so how do they really know they are getting value. I don't know how to make a book and to be honest I ain't interested. I know that based on my spreadsheet that I can't make money using my method backing an 8/11 selection in an 8 runner field because my spreadsheet say I will be at a loss. However if the price is 10/11 or bigger then my spreadsheet tells me I can make money from this price regardless if someone thinks it should be a 2/1 it doesn't really make any difference to me.

Re: Today's Racing Pointers
Nice info.
I currently have a spreadsheet to record tips, profit/loss and also a bank with point system. But i am following a couple tipsters. This has worked out well as they are good tipsters with regular profit. But i am interested in whether it is possible/worthwhile me going the next step and trying to find some myself. In all honesty it is probably not as i don't have the time to invest in reviewing the horses, best race to bet on etc.
Ironically one of the tipsters bet on a horse in that 16.00 Wolves race and it wasn't Lord Cooper! That was one of the reasons why i didn't put money on it.
At the end of the day i will probably just keep following tipsters and not make my own system as i am a lazy sod!

Re: Today's Racing Pointers
Frustrating couple of days but I think it might be expected as discussed earlier as form tends to not mean so much this time of year with the switch in code from Jumps to the turf flat. I think I counted 5 odds on horses being beaten today with only two winning.
I have dropped Pattern form selections as the amount of backdating that needs to be done it far too much for me to review and I don't want to put up selection that I have not reviewed in depth. I will replace it with something else soon !!!

Re: Today's Racing Pointers
Why do trainers enter these horses if they know that their form is down? Walt was a prime example yesterday. Good horse, well tipped and lost people money by coming 2nd by some way.
Seems to me that this is the time of year that bookies stack the cash.

Re: Today's Racing Pointers
Nice win with enfolding. As you know 5 out of 6 horses
Were first last time out so to pick up that one from
The competition was excellent.
