2:25 York – Proschema – 40-1 EW
The top weight could well have the race run to suit. In his last race over Goodwoods 12f he jousted for the lead with Making Miracles for the first 4 to 5 furlongs which helped neither, Proschema naturally exuberant, Making Miracles being jostled to contend. Eventually Making Miracles lost the battle and dropped in behind. These two again are likely to be the early leaders (along with Mekong), although this time I'm sure Proschema will be ceded the lead after just two furlongs and allowed to stride out on his own terms since connections of Making Miracles will probably see those early exertions contributing to his losing out and finishing a close 3rd ( Proschema fin 4th), with another of today's rivals Corgi finishing second.

A little over 2 lengths separated the trio at Goodwood and I thought Proschema was staying on again late. Corgi and Making Miracles are 7-1 and 8-1 respectively, so Proschema at 40-1 looks massively overpriced. Why is he such a big price, well the one time he tried 14f, on soft going he was ridden by M Harley who pushed him 6l clear after 4f, gave him a breather, kicked on again but fell into a hole beaten 20 lengths which looked too bad to be true.

Richard Kingscote is back on top today (ridden him 5 of last 6 starts), who incidently rode Making Miracles to win at Haydock, and will hopefully settle Proschema in the lead. He's never raced on going faster than good, but there is plenty of moisture in today's GF and his sire won a G1 on GF and his half brother won a Grade 1 on firm at Belmont last year.

Will it win, it's unlikely but at the relative prices I think Proschema is great value to make the frame, and could well DOB when he kicks on as they enter the straight.
