What is the best way to improve ones race reading skills?

By which I mean, watching the race and having an idea of how it will unfold?

The obvious answer, of course, is to watch races but would be good to be able to get some pointers of what to look for?

Also, how much importance do other users place on the jockey when considering their trades?

It not so much the horse you need to know for InPlay bets (although that can help), it's the Jockey.
For instance Brian Hughes has a very quiet style and during the race it often looks like he still has a lot of horse beneath him, and he has one of the highest dobbing rates of any jockey.

Thanks for that information - something else for me to consider.

Slightly off topic - but in a race where there are 2 or 3 prominent of front running horses, what would your angle of attack be?

I guess it requires more research in terms of which horse is fastest / at the front but I've found the price sometimes doesn't move much on them anyway?
